8.31.08 Horseback Riding Come join Oregon Active as we show you the beautiful Flying M Ranch from Horseback. Spend the afternoon horseback riding in the pristine area known as Yamhill County. The trails offer exciting views of impressive waterfalls, astounding rock formations, forest trails, and breathtaking mountain views. See wildlife in a natural setting and learn about the local history from experienced, personable guides. After the ride we will provide a BBQ lunch. Seasoned as well as novice riders are welcome.
8.25.08 Urban Kayaking Series Week # 2 is upon us and this is one of our closest exotic sea/rec kayak excursions to Portland. Come join Oregon Active and eNRG Kayaking as we explore Willamette Falls: A natural waterfall on the Willamette River between Oregon City and West Linn. It is the largest waterfall in the Pacific Northwest and the eighteenth largest in the world by water volume. We will start below the symbolic end of the Oregon Trail and paddle up towards this awe-inspiring waterfall. Learn about the rich history of the Oregon City area and how the falls have changed over the years. Paddle past salmon fisherman, the Blue Heron paper mill, and a PGE hydro power plant to find yourself humbled at the foot of the entire Willamette river pouring over a forty-foot basalt ridge creating a waterfall of immense proportions.
Photos >>Come join Oregon Active, and eNRG Kayaking's certified instructors for a fun
and educational 1.5-hour trip on flatwater. Try out a stable recreational kayak
as we paddle out to Ross Island. This is an excellent opportunity if you are first
timer, experienced paddler, or just want to get out on the water with good
people. This trip will be beautiful during the gorgeous weather of August, and
you will practice basic kayak nomenclature and proper stroke techniques, as
well as get a chance to sneak up on some unsuspecting great blue herons, and
ospreys. Ross Island hosts refuge to a large number of waterfowl, so don't
forget to bring your binoculars. By the end of the class, you will be equipped
with the knowledge for our excursion courses.
The Urban Kayaking Series was developed to explore, discover, and enjoy the
beautiful rivers around Portland. A chance to get outside and try something
new..meet new friends.. get off the couch and enjoy the great outdoors during
the work week. It’s super casual and we will explore a new waterway each week
for three weeks straight. So get out there, step off the treadmill and try
something new.
8.10.08 White Water Rafting It's going to be hot this weekend so grab your friends and join Oregon Active and eNRG Kayaking for a White Water Rafting Expedition this Sunday August 10th. We are rafting the North Fork, Santiam River with North West River Guides LLC. We will provide all the river equipment for the adventure (Life Jackets/PFDs, Paddles/helmets, and Rafts), and we will paddle an 8 mile stretch of river with class II-III rapids. It is a fun splashy float through rapids like Swirly's, Carnivore and Spencers Hole. We will take out after Mill City Falls where we have several local food options within walking distance (my favorite being a pizzaria). We will also provide snacks in the form of clif bars, but we recommend you getting a good night sleep the night before, and being hydrated- b/c the entire experience makes for a long day. Plan on being back in Portland around 6:30-7pm.
